Arrests
Police arrested a 17-year-old Gloucester man on drunken driving charges yesterday at 12:41 a.m. after a traffic stop on Route 128 extension south.
Jared Toye of 12 Ryan Road was charged with drunken driving, speeding, marked lanes violations and a minor being in possession of alcohol.
Police pulled over the Audi that Toye was driving after observing him spinning his tires on Sayward Street at Bass Avenue and then swerving across the center line three times, according to the police report. Toye, who was travelling 78 mph in a 45 mph zone, police said, appeared intoxicated after being pulled over.
A 1âÑ4 full bottle of Bacardi rum was found in Toye's car, police said.
Police responding to a report of a domestic dispute Tuesday at 8:34 p.m. arrested Joseph Meyers, 48, of 20 Webster St., Gloucester on an outstanding warrant.
Incidents
Police received a report at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday of a man staggering in the middle of Washington Street at Langsford Street. Officers responding did not find anyone matching the description given.
Firefighters and police responded to Warrick Street at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a fire. The fire turned out to be caused by a grill flaring up and was extinguished before crews arrived.
Police yesterday received a report of fireworks being set off near Boulder Road. Officers did not find any evidence of fireworks.
At 4:23 am. yesterday, police received a report of a disturbance on Middle Street and found several trash barrels knocked over and plants from Ned's Groceria on Washington Street torn out of their pots and strewn across the street. There are no suspects at this time.
Police yesterday at 1:52 p.m. received a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a parked car at the Cape Ann Food Pantry on Emerson Avenue. The parked car, a 2009 Toyota, suffered damage to the right rear passenger's side door. No suspects have been identified.
