Arrests

Police investigating a report of suspicious activity at the Universalist Church yesterday morning discovered four teens skipping school and hanging out on the church stairwell.

Brittney Horton, 18, of 15 Tappan St., Manchester, Stephanie Boutchie, 17, of 21 Winthrop St., Essex, Shawn McComiskey, 17, of 18 Reynard St., Gloucester and a 16-year-old Gloucester male were each arrested and charged with trespassing on private property and marijuana possession.

Police watched the teens crush a blunt cigar with their feet, while under Horton's foot was a piece of paper with vegetable matter inside appearing to be marijuana, the report stated.

A reputed member of the Latin Kings gang arrested earlier this month in connection with a number of house breaks was arrested late Monday night on three outstanding warrants.

Eddie Ayala, 18, of 461 High St., Lowell, was charged with resisting arrest and trespassing in addition to the warrants. Ayala was charged with receiving stolen property nearly three weeks ago. Police found Ayala hiding in the attic of his girlfriend's home on Patriots Circle.

The State Police Fugitive Squad warned Gloucester police of a man headed for the city via the commuter rail who was wanted on several warrants and could possibly have a gun.

Lt. Jerris Cook said the man, Cedric Wongus, was arrested Monday night after a short foot chase on Railroad Avenue. Wongus was charged with resisting arrest and cocaine possession in addition to the four warrants.

Cook said Wongus, having seen officers waiting, fled the station immediately upon departing the train. He was caught a short time later near the Dunkin' Donuts shop by Sgt. David Quinn. Police did not find a gun on Wongus or in the area of the chase, Cook said.
