A Gloucester man was sentenced to serve more than a month in jail by Judge Joseph Jennings in Gloucester District Court yesterday after pleading guilty to charges of violating a restraining order.
Dennis W. MacKillop, 31, of 319 Washington St., was handed a one-year sentence, with 40 days to serve and the balance suspended for a year.
The charges against MacKillop stemmed from a September incident in which he sent threatening messages to his ex-girlfriend, violating an abuse-prevention order.
Jennifer Goodreault, 39, of 31 Eastern Ave., Essex, had charges of drunken driving continued without a finding for a year, and was ordered to pay $600 in court costs. Goodreault was arrested in August after being pulled over by Essex police for a vehicle light violation. Police reports indicated that she failed a series of field sobriety tests.
Thomas M. Ellis, 49, of 213 Larch Row, Wenham, had charges of drunken driving and resisting arrest continued without a finding for one year. Ellis was also ordered to pay $600 in court costs.
The charges against Ellis stem from an incident on Saturday night, when he was pulled over on Martin Street in Essex for a marked lanes violation. According to police reports, Ellis smelled of alcohol and refused to perform a field sobriety tests. Ellis also refused to exit his vehicle according to police reports.
Freddy O. Velasquez, 26, of 48 Pont St., Beverly, was sentenced to 10 days in jail by Judge Joseph Jennings for driving with a suspended license. The charge against Velasquez stemmed from a January incident in which police pulled him over for erratic operation.
Kaylee M. Jaksland, 20, of 213 Washington St., Gloucester, was sentenced to six months probation for driving without a license in an April incident.
Christopher D. Crowell, 31, of 26 Summer St., Gloucester, was sentenced to one year probation on drunken driving charges. Crowell was also ordered to pay $600 in court costs and $2,238 in restitution. The charges against Crowell stem from a May incident where he collided with a vehicle driving on the other side of the road while he was drunk, according to police reports.
