ESSEX — The Essex TRIAD Council will sponsor a Senior Care Luncheon on Thursday.
During the luncheon, a representative from the district attorney's office at Salem District Court will speak about identity theft.
Essex police Chief Peter Silva said it is an important topic in senior safety, since many times seniors are considered targets for the crime. He also said identity theft has been on the rise in recent years.
Based on a national program started in 1988 by the AARP and the National Sheriffs Association, TRIAD uses a partnership between the community's older citizens, and members of the law enforcement community to deal with issues that are unique to seniors.
The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. and will be held in the Senior Center on Pickering Street. It is free and no reservation is necessary.
