ROCKPORT — Crews from National Grid responded to Rockport several times this weekend to repair utility poles damaged in Saturday's coastal storm.

Police and fire crews responded to a report of a utility pole on fire on Penzance Road at 6:55 a.m. Saturday.

According to Fire Chief Jim Doyle, the fire erupted as a result of a blown fuse. National Grid turned off power and replaced the damaged parts.

At 1:17 Saturday afternoon, authorities responded to Mill Lane after a resident reported a fallen utility pole. According to Doyle, a tree limb fell on wires and pulled the pole down. The utility company righted the pole, but had to return to the scene Sunday morning after a resident noticed the pole was leaning again and contacted police.

There were no reports of power outages associated with the incidents, officials said.

A Gloucester man was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on Broadway Avenue at 1:56 a.m. Sunday.

Sameh Kinawy, 20, of 77 Centennial Ave., was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and underage possession of alcohol.

A GPS was reported stolen from a Rockport woman's vehicle at 1:36 p.m. Sunday. The woman told police she believed the navigation unit was stolen from her unlocked vehicle around 11 p.m. Saturday while it was parked on Broadway.

A caller reported several pumpkins had been smashed on Bearskin Neck at 10:12 Saturday night.

Police responded to an emergency call from a Dean Road resident who reported a domestic situation in progress Saturday night. When police arrived shortly after 11:30, a woman told police she and a man had a verbal argument but that he left the home after taking some of his belongings before officers arrived.

The Fire Department responded to a Dean Road residence at 7:03 a.m. Friday after a woman called to report a fire in her basement. Firefighters determined that what appeared to be smoke was actually steam leaking out of a heating pipe.

Rockport rescuers transported women from Kitefield Road and Millbrook Park to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester over the weekend.

A man was transported by Beauport Ambulance from Main Street to Addison Gilbert Hospital at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
