A Gloucester man who pleaded guilty to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault, resisting arrest and three counts of threatening to commit a crime received a one year suspended sentence and was put on probation for two years by Judge Joseph Jennings in Gloucester District Court yesterday.

Criminal complaints were filed against John T. Roberts Jr., of 106 Pleasant St., on Oct. 13 after police responded to Roberts' father's home on a report of a possible domestic dispute.

Roberts, 29, was also ordered to enter and complete a drug abuse program, abide by the restraining orders taken out against him, and undergo mental health evaluations.

James M. Yandle, of 39 Auburn St., Charlestown, had a charge of larceny over $250 dismissed upon payment of $1,000.

According to the police report, Yandle, 44, accepted $1,000 from the Blue Shutters Bed & Breakfast to complete maintenance work on the inn's chimney on Oct. 11, 2007, but never showed up to start the project after cashing the check.

A 24-year-old Medford man charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating a vehicle without insurance had his case dismissed upon payment of $300.

Kenneth Johnson, of 39 Warner St., Medford, appeared in court for an incident that took place Oct. 1 when an Essex police officer stopped Johnson's vehicle after noticing he had a blue 2009 inspection sticker.

Johnson was found responsible for having an unregistered vehicle and for operating a vehicle without an inspection sticker.

A Lynn teen, formerly of Rockport, pleaded guilty to a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol and was ordered to pay a $50 fine.

Tony Tran, 18, of 528 Western Ave., Lynn, was arrested Sept. 27, after police responded to report of people drinking and fighting in the street in front of 115 Pleasant St. Officers heard a loud party coming from a second-floor apartment known to officers as a trouble spot. Upon investigating the party, officers found Tran and another teen holding a 40-ounce beer. According to the police report, Tran's friend opened his car trunk and showed police more beer, all of which officers proceeded to dump down the sewer drain.

A 50-year-old Gloucester man pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with a suspended license and was fined $500.

Robert M. Aitken, of 47 Perkins St., appeared in court for an incident Sept. 9, when a state police trooper stopped Aitken's SUV on the southbound side of the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge after observing it had a broken windshield and expired inspection sticker.

A check of the vehicle revealed the Chevrolet Tahoe had not been inspected since June 2007.

Aitken was also found responsible for failing to wear a seat belt and driving without an inspection sticker, and was fined an additional $75.
