TV show hunts down Essex's ghost tonight

By Jeff Pope
Staff Writer

ESSEX — Jason Hewes and Grant Wilson will try to find ghosts in Essex tonight.

Hewes and Wilson, hosts of the SciFi Channel show "The Ghost Hunters," visited the Windward Grille Restaurant on Eastern Avenue for two days in early October after reading reports of apparitions spotted in and around the restaurant on the Gloucester Daily Times' Web site.

According to Tim Kennefick, who owns the restaurant with his wife Vicky, "The Ghost Hunters" crew visited on Oct. 1 and 2. Hewes and Wilson spent the first night investigating the building, looking for apparitions of a couple in their 30s floating near the walls and at the top of the stairs, that both current staff and staff from the restaurant's previous incarnation as the Heathside have reported.

Most of the filming was done the second night.

The show is broadcast locally at 9 p.m. on Ch. 50. Previous episodes are repeated at 7 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, so tonight's show will probably be repeated in future weeks.
