Rockport 3, North Reading 2
The Vikings picked up their first win of the season on the road thanks to wins from all three singles players: Marie Memhard (6-0, 6-4), Sara Littlefield (6-0, 6-0) and Whitney MacIntosh (6-7, 7-5, 7-6).
"It all came down to Whitney's match which was tied 2-2 in the third set," reported Rockport coach Erin Canniff. "She was the last person on the court and she won it for us. She handled the pressure well since everyone was watching."
The doubles team of Tasha Radzinski-Emma Littlefield (6-7, 7-5, 4-6) lost a tight one but still impressed with their effort.
Gloucester 5, Peabody 0
The Fishermen (6-3) blanked the Tanners on the road behind Olivia Lufkin (6-3, 6-1), Lauren Davis (6-3, 6-2) and Mary Unis (6-1, 6-0) in singles matches. Meg Muniz-Emily Philpott (6-2, 6-2) and Leila Gaston-Pam Tobey (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) handled the doubles duties.
BOYS TENNIS
Peabody 3, Gloucester 2
The doubles teams were reconfigured for the match and both came through with wins. Sam Heany-Balf/Mike Asaro (6-3, 6-1) and Marcus Busby-Brian Hand (4-6, 6-1, 6-3) brought home the points for the Fishermen (2-6).
Manchester Essex 5, Wilmington 0
Sam Cohen (6-1, 6-3), Erik Ferm (6-0, 6-1) and Leo Daley (6-0, 6-1) helped the Hornets (5-2) cruise to their fifth straight win. Willie Baun-Peter Gudonis (6-1, 7-5) and Connor Winn (in his varsity debut)-Oliver Spalding (6-2, 6-0) swept doubles.
BASEBALL
Wilmington 10, Manchester Essex 2
Second baseman Zeke Gillette led Manchester Essex with two hits and a run while third baseman Alex Ray (run), first baseman Tim Surrette and left fielder Greg Polley (RBI) also contributed hits. Reliever Scott Forsythe pitched four innings and only gave up a run.
SOFTBALL
Manchester Essex 4, Pentucket 1
Hornets (4-7) pitcher Lindsey Cambridge starred on the mound, earning the win with nine strikeouts while only giving up one hit, and at the plate, notching two hits and a run. Breezy DiPietro had four steals, a run and a hit, Alex Zager had a run and hit while Ashley Grimes scored the other run.
BOYS LACROSSE
Lynnfield 11, Manchester Essex 5
Dylan Parlee scored two goals while Will Doucette, Steve Driscoll and Cam Doane registered single tallies for the Hornets (2-4).
