Cavs' Gibson to miss Game 6

Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson will miss Game 6 of Cleveland's playoff against the Boston Celtics after separating his left shoulder during the second half Wednesday night.

Gibson, one of the Cavs' best perimeter shooters, left early in the fourth quarter following a collision and did not return. The team estimated he would miss one to two weeks.

The Cavaliers trail 3-2 in the best-of-seven series and could be eliminated tonight.

Gibson emerged as a star in Game 6 of last year's Eastern Conference finals against Detroit.

Pro basketball: Pistons' Billups ready for conference finals

Chauncey Billups is taking advantage of the Detroit Pistons' break, pushing himself through scrimmages to get his right hamstring into game shape.

"I haven't done anything in like a week, so that takes a toll on you" the All-Star point guard said . "Being able to get up and down is a plus for me."

Detroit earned at least a few days off to rest and give Billups a chance to recover by sweeping the Orlando Magic.

If the top-seeded Boston Celtics win on the road for the first time in the playoffs tonight in Cleveland, they will host the second-seeded Pistons on Sunday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. If the fourth-seeded Cavaliers extend the series to a Game 7, the next series will likely start Tuesday night.

More pro basketball: Barkley faces gambling debt case

Retired NBA star Charles Barkley will face criminal charges if he doesn't repay a $400,000 gambling debt to a Las Vegas casino.

"We're in the process of sending Mr. Barkley notice that we're considering filing a criminal complaint," Clark County District Attorney David Roger said. "He'll have an opportunity like anybody else to make restitution to the hotel."

The posh Wynn Las Vegas casino alleges in a civil complaint filed Wednesday in Nevada state court that Barkley failed to repay four $100,000 casino markers, or loans, he received last Oct. 18 and 19.

"To date, and despite repeated demands, Barkley has refused to repay the $400,000," the complaint said.

Barkley is a basketball analyst for Turner Network Television who has made no secret of his gambling over the years.

Pro baseball: Griffey pays off teammate Fogg ... in pennies

Ken Griffey Jr. owed Cincinnati Reds teammate Josh Fogg $1,500, and paying by check just wouldn't do.

So when Fogg arrived in the Reds clubhouse Wednesday, he found his locker filled with 150,000 pennies — 60 boxes, each weighing 16 pounds and containing $25 worth of pennies.

"Basically, it's like having 60 bowling balls in your locker, only with no holes to pick them up with," Griffey said.

Neither player would say why Griffey owed Fogg the money. Griffey had threatened to pay it off in pennies, but Fogg didn't believe him.

"I'm going to take them out to the bullpen and count them," Fogg said. "I've got a lot of time on my hands out there."
