Coaches

Coaches are asked to call the Gloucester Daily Times sports department, at 978-283-7000, ext. 3450, to report results and box scores from each night's games. Please call as early as possible after the game concludes.

Golf

The third annual Peter Bruni Memorial Golf Tournament, named for the former superintendent of the Rockport Golf Club, will be held at Ferncroft Country Club in Middleton on Monday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $150. Funds raised this year will support the Peter Bruni Junior Golf Program at Salem State and the college's golf team. The goal each year is to provide junior golf clubs and 10 hours of instruction to 25 youngsters, ages 7 to 11, from the Salem and Cape Ann area.

Soccer

Fishermen Youth Soccer is offering in-town soccer programs for the fall 2008 season for U6 through U12. To register, go to www.fishermenyouthsoccer.org. New players will need to send a copy of a birth certificate. Volunteers and coaches are needed for the fall session. For more information, call 978-525-3389.

Tennis

The annual Bass Rocks Open Tennis Tournament will be held from Aug. 28 to Aug. 31. Deadline for signing up for women's events is Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. for men's events. Anyone interested can contact Tennis Director Avis Murray at 978-283-1866, ext. 203, or stop by Bass Rocks.

Lacrosse

Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse is looking for coaches for U9, U11, U13 and U15 for the 2009 season. If interested, please contact Kevin Place at 978-768-3685 or e-mail buildingplace@comcast.net.

Texas Hold'em

The second annual JJ Nicastro Texas Hold'em Tournament and Live Auction will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13. The buy-in will $75 for early registration and $100 at the door. The tournament will be held at the St. Peter's Club, sign-in will begin at 5 p.m. and the tournament will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call John at 978-335-2713 or Marc at 508-335-8599.

Volleyball

Signups are beginning for co-ed adult volleyball in Rockport. All adults over the

age of 18 are eligible. The program runs on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at

Rockport High from Sept. 9 to Dec. 9. Registration fee is $20. Please bring the fee the first day you play or register in advance by downloading the registration form from www.town.rockport.ma.us.
