BY THE NUMBERS
Here's a number that probably has Swampscott cringing — 38 percent. That's the number of points (32 out of 84 total) that opponents have scored against the Big Blue in the fourth quarter this season. By comparison, Swampscott's Super Bowl championship team of a year ago surrendered 32 percent of its points allowed in the fourth quarter — but that included 16 points by Marblehead on Thanksgiving after the Big Blue had already opened a 42-0 lead and put in its second and third-string defense. Swampscott did not allow a single point in the fourth quarter in September 2007 and gave up just 19 in October.
GAMES TO WATCH
Peabody at Danvers, tonight at 7 p.m.: Rarely does a battle of one-win teams draw as much attention as this game will. The Tanners managed just one win last season, while the Falcons suffered through a winless campaign. That, of course, means Peabody's one win in 2007 came against — you guessed it — Danvers. Both teams picked up their first victory last week — Peabody's coming against Arlington, while Danvers pounded Revere. A potential .500 record is an exciting prospect for either of these teams.

St John's Prep at Brockton, tonight at 7 p.m.: Could this be the classic letdown game? The Prep is coming off a monumental win over perennial powerhouse Everett, going into Everett Memorial Stadium as the underdog and left as a serious Catholic Conference and Super Bowl favorite. The name Brockton alone used to strike fear in its opponents, but not anymore. The 1-3 Boxers have looked like a shell of themselves this year, losing blowouts to B.C. High (28-7) and Xaverian (34-6). Still, it is Brockton, and winning at Marciano Stadium is never easy.

Triton at Ipswich, tonight at 7 p.m.:You couldn't blame the Ipswich football players and coaching staff if they're a little on edge these days. The Tigers have not won a game since they captured the Division 3A Super Bowl with a 7-0 victory over Cape Cod Tech in 2006. But the Tigers seem like they are headed for a winnable game this week. Triton has just one win this season and managed only one win all of last year. Making things difficult on Ipswich, however, is the short week it encountered due to the weekend rain. Ipswich had just three days to prepare, while Triton had 12 days after having a bye.

Bishop Fenwick at Masconomet, tonight at 7 p.m.: Masco has to be the most deceiving 1-3 team in the land with losses to St. John's Prep, Norton and Gloucester. The Chieftains got on the winning track with a 10-9 victory over Lincoln-Sudbury Sunday and enter this week's game as the prohibitive favorite. Masco returns most of the team that dominated a stronger Fenwick club (35-14) last year.
