The Manchester Essex field hockey team will be in the state tournament yet again.
That much was clinched yesterday as the Hornets blanked Triton, 5-0, to improve to 9-1-1 on the season.
Fylvan LaChance scored two goals for Manchester Essex, while Amelia Burke, Amelia Cohen and Lee Stroman also added goals. Hillary Doucette also played well and Vicky Grimes and Heather Burgess combined for the shutout in net.

Morgan Weir scored two goals for the Vikings, who improved to 4-6-2. Courtney Lambert added the other goal and Ally McManus tallied all three assists.

Junior Matt Xavier scored an unassisted goal 13 seconds into the game for Manchester Essex (1-3-4), but North Reading scored three second half goals to pick up the win. Matt Graves played well in net, despite playing injured.

O'MALEY SPLITS WITH H-W
Winslow Powers, Ian Richards, Noah Mondello, Jacob Holscher and brothers Brian and Victor Matos swept the first six places to lead their 5-0 O'Maley School cross country team to a 15-48 win over Hamilton-Wenham on Friday at Stage Fort Park.
The girls, missing several key performers, were not so fortunate, falling to the visitors by a score of 15-48. Sophie Black (sixth) was O'Maley's top finisher, followed by Justina Catarino (ninth).
