Rogers, Ryan qualify for all state meet

Times Staff

The Gloucester boys and girls cross country teams were well represented at the Eastern Mass. Division 2 sectional meet at Franklin Park in Boston with a pair of standouts qualifying for the upcoming All State meet.

Caulin Rogers was the top finisher for Gloucester, coming in 12th place with a time of 16:57. Senior captain Andrew Ryan was not too far behind with a time of 17:11, good for 19th place. A strong showing by both Rogers and Ryan was good enough for them to qualify for the MIAA All state meet on Nov. 21.

Freshman Winslow Powers also turned in a strong performance over the weekend with a 64th-place finish, the second-highest finish for a freshman. Gloucester, however, failed to qualify as a team.

While the Gloucester girls team did not qualify as a team or have an individual qualifier, senior captain Abbie Rogers delivered a strong performance with a time of 21:22 good for 39th place.
