Gloucester can't hold lead, settles for tie

Gloucester Daily Times

Boys Hockey

The Gloucester boys hockey team had victory in hand last night against Winthrop, but instead had to settle for a 5-5 tie.

The Fishermen led 5-3 with four minutes to go, only to see the Vikings score two short-handed goals to come away with the tie.

"We have been giving up too many short-handed goals," Gloucester coach Don Lowe said.

Senior captain Andrew Fulford led the Fishermen offense with two goals. Brett Biondo, Marc Buotte and Jeremy Fanning scored the other three goals for the Fishermen.

Gloucester (10-1-2) will next travel to Newburyport on Saturday to take on the Clippers (7 p.m.)
