Hairy Announcement
Give Nerlins Noel credit for being innovative when it came to announcing which college he will attend this fall. The nations No. 1 basketball prospect, and a native of Everett Ma., chose the University of Kentucky Wednesday in unique fashion.
The 6'10" shot blocking center had the UK logo shaved into the back of his head, and instead of saying the words University of Kentucky, all he had to do was turn around and show off the back of his head.
With Kentucky landing a prospect like Noel, John Calipari and company will be in the mix for another National Championship in 2013.
Opening Day Ovation
With Josh Beckett taking the hill for this afternoon's opening day tilt with Tampa Bay it will be interesting to see how he is treated by the Fenway faithful.
By all intents and purposes Beckett does not deserve any ovation, as he was one of the ring leaders in the whole chicken and beer fiasco at the end of the 2011 season. Add to that the fact that he has not taken any accountability for his actions and his poor performance in his last start against Detroit and a course of boos may be in order for the "Texas Tough Guy."
But this is opening day at Fenway we're talking about, where pink hats fill the stands, they will probably cheer Beckett on like it's 2007 and that's a shame as he deserves nothing but boos. Beckett may not get an ovation of jeers this afternoon, but he sure has earned them, and the fans letting him know how unhappy they are with his attitude and performance would send a strong message that his negativity will not be tolerated.
