The 37th annual Magnolia Library 5k will be run on Saturday, August 24. The event will feature the well known 5k road race and a 1k Fun Run. Applications for the race, which is sponsored by Cape Ann Savings Bank, are available at Palazola’s Sporting Goods and the Lone Gull Coffee Shop on Main Street as well as the Manchester Athletic Club. Lone Gull 10k

Legends Baseball and Softball Tryouts

Gloucester Fall Baseball

A free fall baseball program is being offered to high school age kids who live in Gloucester. Practices will begin soon running twice a week at Nate Ross Field. To register for the program and for questions call John Matheson at 978-281-5069 or Paul Muniz at 978-282-1788.

MERMHS Announces Fall Sports Registration Online

The Manchester Essex Regional Middle High School is accepting online fall sports registrations for the following sports: Middle School (7th & 8th grade) Co Ed Soccer, Middle School Field Hockey, Varsity Boys Cross Country, Varsity Girls Cross Country, JV & Varsity Boys Soccer, JV & Varsity Girls Soccer, Freshman Field Hockey, JV & Varsity Field Hockey, Freshman Football and Varsity Football and Varsity Golf.

These programs are open to all students in grades 7-12. 7th & 8th grade students are eligible to play on the middle school soccer and field hockey teams, the girls and boys cross country teams and the golf team.

Online registration is done through with the link being found on the Athletics page of the MERSD website. Please review all information on the website while registering your student/athlete.

Registration and payment of the user fee for participation are due by Tuesday, August 13th. Each student athlete must have a current physical on file with the Athletic Department prior to participating. Please review the information carefully on the site for specific information.

Free and Reduced Meals applications are now posted on the Foodservice web page. If you qualify for free or reduced meals, you will also qualify for either a waiver or a reduced rate on your athletic fees. Little Kids Track

Little Kids track is running every Wednesday this summer at the O’Maley School Track at 6:00 p.m. The program is for kids ages 5-8, 9 and 10 year olds are also welcome. The program, part of Get Fit Gloucester, features multiple track and conditioning events, there is no charge.

Manchester Essex Lacrosse Clinic

Manchester Essex will be holding its first ever summer lacrosse clinic for players age 8-14 at Hyland Field from August 12-15 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The clinic offers existing players and those interested in the game of lacrosse with a fun, local and unique approach to learning fundamental skills and team concepts.

Manchester Essex Varsity Lacrosse Coach John McCavanagh will run the clinic along with assistant coaches Joe Gergino and Steve Driscoll.
