There were certainly countless nights to remember in the Cape Ann high school sports scene over the last half decade, and finding the 10 best was no easy task.
The most difficult task was separating the good games, as there were countless, from the great games. And separating the good from the great meant defining what makes a game great in the first place?
There was several criteria used when dwindling the field down to just 10 games. Caliber of teams, strong individual performances, magnitude of game, and unusual or controversial names were just a few factors that were factored in and every single game on this list meets at least one, more often than not multiple requirements.
In this short trip down memory lane, a trip that was compiled by reading old game stories and hearing input from coaches and the community, some of the games on the countdown were certainly no brainers that nobody in the area can forget, others are hidden gems that will serve as reminders of just how good these games were.
This list certainly doesn’t include every great game over the last five years and there were quite a few games there were extremely tough omissions. Everybody has their own favorites and moments during the last five years that were memorable to them for different reasons, this list will capture some of the best in the area from the 2007-08 to the 2011-12 high school sports seasons.
