Danvers 44 (Boys)
The Fishermen finish off the regular season at 7-0 and are now the outright Northeastern Conference Small champions, the team’s first NEC title since 2009, when it finished 6-1 with the only blemish being a non-conference loss to Peabody. Gloucester will now get ready for the Northeastern Conference Meet on October 27 at Bradley Palmer Park in Ipswich, a meet where every team in the conference meets in one race.
Gloucester got a chance to see the NEC meet race course ahead of time as Tuesday’s meet was also at Bradley Palmer Park. Jacob Holscher continues to have a strong senior campaign winning Tuesday’s race with a strong time of 16:56.
Everest Crawford, Noah Mondello, Willie Pierce, Matt Ciaramitaro, John Laurie and Ian Richards round out the top seven finishers for the Fishermen.
Gloucester 33 (Girls)
The Gloucester girls finish off the regular season with a 3-4 record after dropping a close meet to Danvers on Tuesday.
Kacie Quinn led the way for Gloucester with a third place finish, Sophie Black finished right behind her in fourth. Gina Ciaramitaro, Chloe Kenyon and Corinne DeLouise were the next three finishers for Gloucester.
Manchester Essex 6
The Hornets improve to 13-1 on the season with a dominant win over Amesbury where they did not allow a shot on goal.
Anna Heffernan led the offense with two goals and an assist. Kelsi Field had a pair of assists, Brittany Smith, Taylor Meek, Megan Jones and Meghan Heffernan each scored goals while Olivia Mastendino had an assist.
Head coach Andrea Slaven also praised the play of Carolyn Heslop and Allyson Conway on the defensive end.
