After three days of waiting, the No. 2 Manchester Essex (17-1-1) field hockey team finally has a date and venue for its Division 2 North Semi Final date with No. 3 Swampscott (16-2-2).
The two teams will meet on Thursday at Reading High School (5:30 p.m.), with the winner punching its ticket to the Division 2 North Final, to be played at North Andover High School this weekend.
Thursday’s Semi Final matchup is a rematch of a first round clash between the two teams in 2011. Manchester Essex won the back and forth, evenly played contest 3-2 on a Megan Jones goal with 1:05 remaining. The rosters of both teams look similar to 2011 so Thursday’s matchup should be a good one.
Sporting news polled 103 current National Football League players from 27 different teams this season asking who the most overrated coach in the league is. The results may be a bit surprising to Patriots fans.
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan was the runaway winner with 35 votes, but second was Patriots head coach Bill Belichick with 16 votes.
The notion that Belickick is one of the most overrated coaches in the league is preposterous. No coach can match his success and it’s pretty clear that he’s the best coach in all of the league and amongst the best of all time.
Belichick is in a class by himself at the top and it would be tough for anybody to name a No. 2 at this point. New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin also comes to mind, especially considering his two wins over Belichick and the Patriots in the Super Bowl, Mike Shanahan has two rings in Denver but hasn’t been great recently while Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who along with Shanahan were in the top five in the Sporting News poll, always has the Steelers playing tough and disciplined football.
