Vizena goes the distance in Gloucester win

The Gloucester baseball team picked up a big 6-2 win over Peabody at home Monday improving its record to 6-3 on the year. Junior south paw Jason Vizena picked up the win going the distance while striking out 10. The lone blemish on Vizena's line was a two run home run surrendered in the second inning, but the lefty shut the door from there on in.

"Jason continued to pitch great, this was his third win of the year," Fishermen head coach Joe Orlando said. "This was an important win because we haven't had much success against Peabody recently and we did not want to go into Wednesday's game against Beverly with a 5-4 record."

Trailing 2-1 heading into the fifth Gloucester batted around and scored five runs. Lenny Zappa got things started with a solo home run to tie it at 2-2, Mike Muniz and Vinny Terranova each had RBI singles with the other two runs coming home on bases loaded walks.
