Kraft Honored

Patriots owner Robert Kraft was awarded the George Halas Award Monday. Kraft was given the award, which is given by the Professional Football Writers of America to a player coach or staff member that overcomes the most adversity to succeed, for his work in settling the NFL lockout while his wife was dying of cancer. Kraft is the first member of the Patriots organization to receive the award.

Last summer Kraft was shuttling between his wife's hospital bed to the NFLPA's headquarters in Washington to iron out a league collective bargaining agreement.

Getting Healthy

The Red Sox welcomed back slugging outfielder Cody Ross to the lineup Monday after missing more than a month with a foot injury. Ross was a bright spot for the Red Sox before going on the DL hitting .274 with 9 home runs and 29 RBI before the injury.

The Red Sox, however, were also forced to send speedy outfielder Scott Podsednik to the disabled list with an injury suffered in Sunday nights win over the Cubs. Podsednik had also been playing well for the Sox swinging a hot bat and giving the team speed at the top of the lineup.
