Marblehead 25 Gloucester 36 (Boys)
The Fishermen (0-2) got great performances from Willy Pierce and Everest Crawford, who took first and second place respectively on Wednesday at Ravenswood Park for Gloucester’s home opener, but the Magicians took the next eight spots to come away with the win.
Pierce finished with a time of 15:37 with Crawford right behind him at 15:50. Matt Ciaramitaro (17:01), Eric Cillufo (17:40) and Dylan Genovese (17:41) also turned in points for the Fishermen, who have now passed the most difficult stretch of their schedule playing NEC Large and Small frontrunners in Peabody and Marblehead to open the year.
Marblehead 17 Gloucester 42 (Girls)
Gloucester (0-2) ran well against the Northeastern Conference Small favorites, but the Magicians ran better sporting the top three finishers en route to the win.
Freshman Carly Curcuru was Gloucester’s top finisher for the second meet in a row with a time of 19:13. Kacie Quinn (19:46) and Sabrina Marnoto (19:49) were the next two Gloucester finishers in sixth and seventh while Mel MacDonald, Corinne DeLouise and Chloe Kenyon each chipped in points.
Manchester Essex 17 Saugus 45 (Boys)
The Hornets improve to 3-1 on the year with an impressive win over the Cape Ann League newcomers finishing with the top three times of the afternoon and six of the top seven.
Cam Holley led all runners with a time of 18:21, teammates Spencer Feuerbach (18:22) and Nathan Evans (18:23) were right behind him. Patrick Guinee (18:46), Charlie Davis (18:55) and Campbell Fackre (19:02) finished fifth through seventh respectively. Parker Malarkey (19:32) also scored points for the Hornets.
Manchester Essex 16Saugus 40
The Lady Hornets completed the sweep Wednesday and move to 3-1 on the year with the top four finishers on the afternoon.
Olivia Lantz finished in first with a time of 21:27 followed by Fiona Davis (22:21), Maura McCormick (22:21) and Eve Feuerbach (22:53). Holly Fossa (22:59) and Lindsey Duff (23:34) also turned in points for Manchester Essex.
