Gloucester boys soccer battles Danvers to draw

The Fishermen (3-1-1) turned in another great second half effort erasing a 1-0 deficit and earning a draw against the always formidable Falcons.

Danvers controlled the second half getting a goal 25 minutes in, but Gloucester turned things around in the second matching the Falcons’ intensity and controlling play.

Dan Carpenter scored the Fishermen goal with an assist from Calvin Kipruto. Gloucester’s defense was also outstanding in the win led by the senior trio of Anthony Taormina, Alex Dahlmer and Steve Gross. Gloucester remains atop the Northeastern Conference Small standings with the point. The midfield of Kipruto, Kevin Rogers, Winslow Lewis and Jeff Oliveria also played great for Gloucester.

Girls Soccer

Gloucester 0 Wakefield 0

Gloucester (0-3-2) showed big improvements battling a strong Wakefield team to a draw Saturday morning. Sabrina Maciel was great in goal recording her second shutout of the season while Jenny Deckert shut down Wakefield’s most dangerous offensive player.


Hamilton-Wenham 111 Rockport 108

The Vikings (1-5) just missed a win Monday at Rockport Golf Club. Travis Sweet led Rockport with 26 points, Abby Hood had 22 and Joe Muzio had 20.
