---- — The Northeastern Conference and Cape Ann League recently announced conference All Star teams and both leagues are littered with all stars hailing from Cape Ann.

We will start off with the all league selections as Gloucester, Rockport and Manchester Essex combined to have eight players awarded all league stature.

Olivia Lantz of Manchester Essex cross country was named Cape Ann League Small Player of the Year after winning the Cape Ann League championship meet last month. Gloucester’s first year field hockey coach Lauren Riley was named Northeastern Conference Coach of the Year after leading her team to a state tournament berth for the first time in half a decade.

On the boys soccer field a pair of players who lit up the scoreboard for their respective teams earned All League honors. In the NEC Gloucester’s Calvin Kipruto, the leading scorer for the Fishermen, was the team’s lone all league selection. Over in Rockport Shaun Aspesi, the Vikings leading scorer, got the all league nod and was ranked as the No. 4 player in all of the Cape Ann League.

Kipruto and Aspesi were two of the most dynamic and dominant offensive players in all of the North Shore this fall scoring from just about anywhere on the field and in just about every way imaginable.

In field hockey the currently unbeaten Manchester Essex Hornets had three senior captains named All Cape Ann League in Brittany Smith, Anna Heffernan and Taylor Meek. Smith and Heffernan combine to form the most dangerous offensive duo in the CAL while Meek does it all for the Hornets, scoring goals, facilitating the offense and even chipping in on the defensive side of things.

On the links Gloucester’s Curtis Quinn polished off his Fishermen career in style with his second straight All NEC selection. Quinn was unbeaten at Gloucester’s home course, Bass Rocks Golf Club, this fall. The Cape Ann League Small champion Hornets also had a pair of All League selections in Ben Bichet, for the second time, and Mike Fuca.

Cape Ann teams also had plenty of conference All Star selections as well.

In boys soccer Gloucester senior captain Alex Dahlmer and sophomore goal keeper Treigh Worrell were each recognized as All Stars for a great season helping lead Gloucester into the state tournament. Sam Roell, Mike Carbone and Matthew Tibert were each CAL All Star selections for the Cape Ann League Small Champion Vikings while Winston Feuerbach, Parker Edington and George Lantz represent Manchester Essex.

Gloucester’s Kenna O’Maley was her team’s lone representative on the Northeastern Conference girls soccer All Star team. Kelly Moore and Bella Mastendino represent Manchester Essex on the CAL All Star team while Meghan Tupper and Shelby Gale represent Rockport.

Gloucester’s Julia Lamoureaux and Autumn Zubricki earned NEC All Star field hockey nods. Manchester Essex’s Sarah Beckman along with Rockport’s Heather MacArthur and Shelby Battistelli were all named CAL All Stars.

In cross country Manchester Essex’s Spencer Feuerbach was named the No. 4 player in the league on the boys side with teammate Cam Holley earning the No. 10 spot. Fiona Davis was ranked the No. 10 player in the CAL on the girls side.
