Crunch Time

Hood at New Englands

Rockport’s Abby Hood had another impressive performance Monday at the New England Interscholastic High School Girls Golf Championship at Bentwood Golf Course in Keene, NH.

Hood, who just finished her junior year at Rockport High, shot a five over par 77 in a round that included 11 pars and a birdie. The score was good for an eighth place finish out of 66 competitors. Hood was just two shots off the winning score of 75.

Hood qualified for the New England Championships by placing fourth at the District Championship by shooting a 84 and finishing in the top 10 at the State Championships turning in an 86.

Game 7

After an epic game six, a game that saw the Spurs blow a five point lead with just 28 seconds to play, San Antonio and Miami are set for a decisive Game 7 tonight at the American Airlines Arena in Miami (9:00 p.m., ABC).

Lebron James will be going for his second straight NBA title and a loss would make him 1-3 in the NBA Finals in his career, 1-2 with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and would be a huge hit to his legacy.

A win for the Spurs and Tim Duncan moves into elite company with a fifth NBA title tying greats Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant.

Matty ice II

Boston College has offered a basketball scholarship to a sophomore from New York with a great name for a BC athlete. It’s Matt Ryan. Maybe we can call him the Iceman.

Football rules

How much more closely followed is the NFL draft than the baseball draft? Comcast SportsNet ran a repeat of a 5-week-old Patriots draft show the same day the first round of the MLB was happening.
