---- — Bruins jealous
On Sunday Bruins head coach Claude Julien spoke out on the Montreal Canadiens style of play. Julien blasted the Bruins’ arch-rival calling their constant diving and embellishing “embarrassing.”
On Monday the Canadiens returned fire, named Max Pacioretty, who said the Bruins’ criticism stemmed from jealousy.
“Jealousy,” Pacioretty said when asked where Julien’s criticism came from. “We’re at the top right now and reading comments like that is awesome. If we’re in last place, they wouldn’t be saying anything about us, but we’re in first place and it’s the best feeling in the world.”
If nothing Pacioretty and Julien made one of the best rivalries in hockey a lot more bitter. The Bruins and Canadiens don’t meet again until March 27, when Montreal visits the TD Garden.
According to a report by ProFootballTalk.com’s Mike Florio, the Patriots could have a replacement for Wes Welker lined up in Danny Amendola.
Amendola played for the Rams in 2012 63 passes for 666 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. Amendola has a similar skill set to Welker, he lines up in the slot, is of similar size and will come at a cheaper price. He obviously has a far inferior resume than the Patriots’ all time leading receiver.
The Patriots are still working with Welker on a long term deal but Amendola is the team’s “ace in the hole” according to Florio’s report.
Sox prospect charged
Red Sox minor league prospect Drake Britton, a 23 year old pitcher in his first Major League camp, was arrested for drunken driving over the weekend.
Britton was reportedly traveling 111 mph in a 45 mph zone, he was arrested after jumping the curb and crashing into a barb wire fence.
Britton missed a scheduled appearance with the Red Sox on Sunday and was optioned to Double-A Portland on Monday.
