Head coach Bill Cahill called Wednesday’s win a character builder as Gloucester (3-4) erased a four point deficit in the game’s final 1:20. A bucket from senior captain Jason Vizena (8 points) on a drive to the lane and a put back from Drew Shairs (10 points) in the final minute ended up being the winning baskets for the Fishermen.

“It was a good, hard fought game the entire way,” Cahill said. “It was a good win for us, we showed a lot of character picking up some key buckets in the end to come away with the win.”

Jeff Oliveria and Austin Davis led the Fishermen with 15 points each. Gloucester will look to get back to the .500 mark on Friday when Marblehead visits the Benjamin A. Smith Fieldhouse.

Gloucester (2-3) applied lots of pressure on the defensive end but unfortunately the Big Blue also played an outstanding defensive game en route to a win. Gloucester next travels to Marblehead on Friday.
