Rockport 2 Shawsheen 2
The Vikings (6-7-2) will be going to the tournament for the fifth straight season after clinching at least a share of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference title with a draw at Shawsheen Thursday night.
Rockport almost had the title wrapped up but a Shawsheen power play goal with four seconds to play tied the score.
“It was a tough finish but I thought we played well,” Vikings head coach Derek Papalegis said.
Rockport got on the board in the first period on a goal from Jon Ferrante with an assist from Josh Guertin. The Vikings broke a 1-1 tie in the third period on a goal from Mike Tupper assisted by Kyle Nelson and Ferrante.
The Vikings can clinch their first ever CAC title outright with a win or tie against Northeast on Wednesday at Talbot Rink (8:00 p.m.). Tonight’s contest at Revere has been rescheduled for Monday at 4:30 at Revere according to Papalegis.
