ME baseball tops Rockport 4-3

The Manchester Essex baseball team is still alive for a Division 4 North State Tournament berth. Facing a must win situation against Rockport Wednesday at Memorial Field the Hornets took care of business with a 4-3 with. With the win Manchester Essex (6-10) must win this afternoon at home against Cathedral (4:00 p.m.) and win a game against a Division 4 opponent in the Rockport Memorial Day Tournament this weekend. The Hornets first play Division 2 Somerville but will play either Rockport or Pope John, both Division 4 teams, in their second game.

Joe Burgess picked up the win for the Vikings going six innings allowing three unearned runs and striking out five, he also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Max Nesbit picked up the save pitching a scoreless seventh and also picked up a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs in the win. Jake Fitzgerald also chipped in two hits for Manchester Essex.

SOFTBALL

The Vikings (13-4) controlled from start to finish in the win. Kristin Turner picked up the win on the mound going six innings. Mollie Watson powered the Rockport offense going 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Hannah Lorden and Kayla Parisi each chipped in a pair of hits for Rockport.

GIRLS TENNIS

The Big Blue gave the Hornets problems, but the defending Division 3 State champs remain undefeated at 17-0. No. 1 singles Michelle Fuca, No. 3 singles Eliza Rohner and the No. 1 doubles tandem of Rachel Daley and Molly Carlson picked up wins for Manchester Essex.
