Norris Finalist
It's not much of a consolation prize given Wednesday night's 2-1 loss to the Capitals eliminating the Bruins from the Stanley Cup playoffs, but team captain Zdeno Chara got some good news Thursday as he was named a finalist for the Norris Trophy, given to the leagues top defenseman.
Chara last won the award in 2009 and is a five time finalist. Chara joins Ottaw's Erik Karlsson and Nashville's Shea Weber as the other two finalists for the award.
This season the Bruins captain scored 52 points and was near the top of the league with a +35 plus/minus. This award appears to be wide open as all three had outstanding offensive and defensive seasons.
Sanchez, Holmes booed
New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and wide receiver Santonio Holmes showed up at the New York Knicks game together Wednesday in an obvious and shameless attempt to prove to the fans that they have made up from their squabble last season.
Needless to say the two did not receive a warm reception as the crowd at Madison Square Garden, in New York City, booed the two New York Jets when they were shown on the jumbotron during the game.
I for one can't see why anybody would boo an underachieving top five pick nearing bust status and a diva wide receiver who is well known as a horrible teammate.
NFL gets smart
Finally the National Football League and the NFL Players union have finally gotten the point, nobody enjoys the Pro Bowl.
League sources confirmed to ESPN that the game is all but done in 2013 and beyond. And it's about time, because nobody enjoys football played at half speed.
