The Vikings move back to .500 at 4-4 on the year with their second straight win on the week.

Rushy Sweet gave Rockport a 1-0 first half lead and Emily Faulds scored an insurance goal in the second half. Shelby Battistelli played great for the Vikings in the midfield, as did Heather MacArthur on defense.

Manchester Essex 3 Newburyport 0

The Hornets move to 7-0-1 on the year with their second straight shutout win over a Cape Ann League Large opponent.

Taylor Meek powered the Manchester Essex offense with two goals, Brittany Smith also added a goal and Hailey Malloy played well in goal recording her fourth shutout of the season.

The Hornets (7-1) qualify for the first round of the state tournament with the win on the road Thursday.

Alex Beckmann led the way for Manchester Essex with an even par round, good for 36 points. Ben Bichet and Troy Ciaramitaro also had strong afternoons with 33 and 28 points respectively.

North Reading 168 Rockport 102

The Vikings (1-6) ran into a tough North Reading team on the road Thursday.

Abby Hood had a big day for Rockport with 32 points, Taylor Sweet scored 17 while Ethan Tanson and Joe Muzio scored 15.
