---- — All season long the Manchester Essex golf team has won with its depth. That was the case again on Tuesday when Newburyport visited Essex County Club for an important Cape Ann League clash.
The Hornets were without the hot shooting Alex Beckmann, who missed the match with an illness, but his teammates stepped up as all six members of the starting lineup scored at least 24 points en route to a 169-137 win. Manchester Essex has yet to score below 150 points this fall.
“This group has performed as a complete team all season,” head coach Jane McConnell said. “It’s really been wonderful to watch.”
Troy Ciaramitro led the way for the Hornets will a match high 33 points with Ben Bichet right behind him scoring 32 points. Justin Eichenberger scored 28 points, Mike Fuca and Cam Tuttle each scored 26 while Kevin Carter chipped in 24 points.
The Hornets can clinch the Cape Ann League Small title outright with a win Thursday at Triton. But that will be no easy task as the Vikings lead the CAL Large with a 12-2 record.
Manchester Essex finishes off the regular season on Tuesday in the Cape Ann Classic against Ipswich and Rockport at Ipswich Country Club before moving on to the state tournament.
