The Gloucester Fishermen will have to wait another day before their next chance to advance in the Division 2 North Sectional baseball tournament now at a different site.
The Fishermen's quarterfinal game scheduled for today against Beverly has been rained out and has now been been rescheduled for tomorrow, again at 4:30 p.m. at Salem State University. The game was initially rescheduled for Beverly, but has now been shifted to Salem State, which has artificial turf.
The Fishermen, seeded No. 13, are coming off a 10-0 second-round win over Boston English last Thursday; Beverly, the No. 5 seed, is coming off a 3-0 second-round win over Belmont.
In other tournament action today, the girls' lacrosse game between 10th-seeded Manchester Essex and No. 2 Ipswich, scheduled for Ipswich, is on but has been moved to Manchester Essex because the school's Hyland Field allows the contest to be played on artificial turf. That game is set for 4 p.m..
The top-seeded Manchester Essex girls tennis team will play Bedford as scheduled today at 3:30 at the Manchester Athletic Club, while the Manchester Essex boys' match at Pentucket Regional has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 3:30.
