Area Roundup: ME field hockey moves to 12-0

The Hornets move to 12-0 with a hard fought win over the game Pioneers.

Brittany Smith had a hat trick for the Hornets with Anna Heffernan assisting on two of the goals. Maddi Bistrong had six saves in goal and Carolyn Heslop played well for Manchester Essex.

Gloucester 1 Marblehead 1

Katie McTigue tied the score for Gloucester (3-7-2) in the second half with an assist from Jill MacDonald just moments after she had another goal called backed under controversial circumstances.

Marlee Melvin played a strong game for Gloucester at the left wing and Jordan Westling made 20 saves in goal, most of them tough saves according to head coach Stephanie Couture.


Beverly 48.5 Gloucester 23.5

Curtis Quinn continues to play well for Gloucester winning his match 5-4 thanks to a win on the ninth and final hole. Matt Lane and Zach Thompson each halved their respective matches.

Amesbury 153

Rockport 135

The Vikings (3-12) put up a good score on the road but could not overtake Amesbury.

Caleb Tanson led Rockport with 30 points, Jake O’Maley had 28, Abby Hood 24, Kyle Nelson 21, Mike Tupper 20 and Courtney Nelson scored 12 points.
