More trade rumors
The Celtics just can’t stay out of the headlines lately when it comes to blockbuster trade rumors. Thursday brought another big name deal to the forefront, this one involving divisional rival Brooklyn.
According to a Yahoo Sports report the Celtics would send both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Nets in exchange for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, who has an expiring contract, and three future first round draft picks.
The Celtics appear to be serious about rebuilding and it is also rumored that they have talked to multiple teams about both Garnett and Pierce. One thing is for sure, the Celtics need to get younger, and trading Pierce and Garnett is the best way
Ballard trumps Tebow
With the constant injuries to Rob Gronkowski and the tragic story surrounding Aaron Hernandez, people are jumping to the conclusion that Tim Tebow (a quarterback) is the answer at tight end for the Patriots.
But the real savior at the position could be former New York Giants standout Jake Ballard. The 25-year-old caught 38 passes for 604 yards and four touchdowns for the Giants in 2011, including the game-winner against the Pats at Foxboro in the regular season. He missed all of last season after suffering a torn ACL in the Super Bowl win over New England. The Pats scooped him from the Giants due to a loophole in the NFL rules prior to last season.
In the least surprising development of the day, Aaron Hernandez cleared waivers. The Patriots released the tight end on Wednesday shortly before he was arraigned on murder charges giving the other 31 teams a chance to scoop him all. All of them smartly declined.
Any new contract involving Hernandez would be voided by the league because if he beats the murder charges, he will still face a lengthy suspension.
