In the last duel meet of the season the Manchester Essex girls ski team found out they are sending three skiers to the state meet later this month. Captain Megan Jones was the star for Manchester Essex winning Wednesday's race at Ski Bradford; the first place finish on Wednesday clinched 3rd place overall in the league as a whole. Each skier races against the entire conference in every meet, with the top 12 average scores from the year qualifying for the states, each skier can drop its worst score.
Alex Marshall finished seventh on Wednesday and sixth overall for the conference placing her in states.
The most dramatic finish, however, was from Lizzy White, who sat in 13th in the league coming into Wednesday's race but a strong 11th place performance on Wednesday jumped her into 12th qualifying her for the state race.
"Megan has been an excellent captain to the tam and Alex has been an unbelievable help to the younger racers," head coach Tim Wonson said. "And Lizzy needed to ski one of her best races to make the cut and she did exactly that and more."
