Manchester Essex sophomore Olivia Lantz had a record setting day at Friday’s Division 4 State Track Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston.
Lantz entered Friday’s meet as the defending Division 4 mile champion and she took it one step further with a record setting time of 4:58.39 to go with her second straight Division 4 mile title. The sophomore’s mark was well ahead the previous meet record of 5:02.69, set by Broomfield’s Ari Lambie in 2002. Her time not only topped the meet record by more than four seconds, it topped her previous season best time by five seconds.
Lantz now moves on to this weekend’s All State meet, she finished third in last year’s meet.
Junior Fiona Davis could be joining Lantz at this weekend’s All State meet after a fifth place finish in the 2-mile on Friday with a time of 11:49.53. The top three times from each division advance to the All State Meet as do the next 12 best times regardless of Division. Davis now has to wait until the Division 1 and Division 2 meets finish to see if she finishes in the top 12.
On the boys side Cam Holley finished 10th in the 1,000m with a personal best time of 2:44.00, Nathan Evans finished in 15th with a time of 2:50.1.
John Beardsley captured a personal best time of 38.46 in the 300 as did Sarah Lewiecki in the 1,000 (3:26.05).
