Rockport’s Mike Tupper was named co MVP of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference on Friday. The senior captain led the CAC champion Vikings in scoring this season with 28 points and a team leading 15 goals.
Alex Amoroso, who led the team with 21 assists, joins Tupper on the CAC’s All League time.
Senior forward Josh Guertin, senior goalie Colby Foster, junior defenseman Jon Ferrante and junior forward Kyle Nelson were also named CAC All Stars. Head coach Derek Papalegis was named the conference’s coach of the year.
Rockport won the CAC this season posting an unbeaten 7-0-1 record in conference play this winter.
Eruzione Jersey Sold
Mike Eruzione, captain of the “Miracle on Ice” 1980 US Olympic hockey team, sold the jersey worn in the miracle win over the Soviet Union for $657,250 at an auction in New York City this weekend.
Eruzione also auctioned off his stick in the win over the Russians, which sold for $262,900. His jersey from the gold medal game against Finland sold for $286,600.
NFL Draft combine
This week’s coverage of the NFL Draft combine further proves that there is no limit to America’s hunger for football. But the love of the combine is apparently a relatively new phenomenon.
According to a few stories, 800 media credentials were given out for the combine this year. Back in the 1990’s there were less than 20 media members that covered the event.
It probably doesn’t hurt that the NFL Network is covering it 24/7.
