Cape Ann Youth Basketball Tryouts
The Cape Ann Youth Basketball North Shore Girls Basketball Travel League will be holding tryouts for the 2013-2014 season on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the O’Maley Middle School gymnasium.
Registration for grades 4-6 will be at 9 a.m. with tryouts from 9:30-10:30. Registration for grades 7-8 will be at 10:45 a.m. with tryouts from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Registration fee is $5 per player, and the cost for the program is expected to be $275 per player, if you have more than one daughter in the program the second player will be discounted. The league will run from November 12 through the middle of March.
Gloucester Youth Boys Basketball
Gloucester Youth Boys Basketball will be holding tryouts for their 5th-8th grade travel program on Monday, Oct. 28 and Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the O’Maley Middle School gymnasium.
Grade 5 tryouts will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday at 6 p.m. Grade 6 tryouts will be on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Grade 7 will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Grade 8 will be on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Players are asked to arrive 30 minutes before tryouts to register. Players must attend tryout to be considered.

Soccer Nights at Newell
Fishermen Youth Soccer and Gloucester High School soccer are putting on a Soccer Night at New Balance Track and Field at Newell Stadium on Friday, October 18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The free event provides an opportunity for kids grades K-6 to play under the lights at Newell Stadium. There will be a clinic featuring Gloucester High soccer players and Fishermen Youth Soccer coaches along with instructions and an inspirational message from Ryan Guy of the New England Revolution.
Cape Ann Youth Hockey Programs
Cape Ann Youth Hockey is offering learn to skate and learn to play hockey programs for the 2013-2014 season. There are programs for various skill levels for boys and girls ages three to 14.
Registration for CAYH Learn to Skate/Initiation, Cape Ann Cross Ice and In-House Hockey are now open online at www.capeannyouthhockey.com.
Cross Ice and In-House begin on Saturday, October 19. Learn to Skate begins on Saturday, November 9.

Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse Registration
Registration is now open for the 2014 Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse season.

Ravenswood Trail Race
The 10th Annual Ravenswood Trail Race will take place on Sunday October 20th.
To register go to the Team Gloucester web page (teamgloucester.com) or applications are available at Lone Gull Coffee and Palazola’s Sporting Goods.
There is no post registration and the race is capped at 175 runners.
Essex County Elementary XC Invitational
The 1st Annual Essex County Elementary XC Invitational will take place on Saturday, November 9 (10:00 a.m.) at the Gannon Golf Course in Lynn.
Individual and team entries are welcome, the school does not need to have a formal cross country program or team to be eligible. All students in grades 1-5 from public, parochial, charter and private elementary schools of Essex County and those communties not in Essex County but are members of the Merrimack Valley, Northeastern Conference or the Cape Ann League are eligible to compete.
