Area Roundup: Ipswich tops Rockport and ME in Old Cape Ann Classic

The Ipswich golf team won its first every Old Cape Ann Classic Tuesday at Ipswich Country Club putting up 145 points, beating Cape Ann teams Manchester Essex (133 points) and Rockport (113 points).

Manchester Essex still holds the all time mark in the event with four wins, Ipswich now moves into a tie with Rockport at one win each.

Abby Hood and Kyle Nelson led the way for Rockport with 25 points, Ethan Tanson scored 19, Travis Sweet 17 and Curtis Welcome 16.

Gloucester 46 Revere 26

The Fishermen move to 4-9 with the win on the road, they host the Patriots today at Bass Rocks Golf Club in the season final (4 p.m.).

Winners fro Gloucester were Curtis Quinn, Reilly Zubricki, Bart Margiotta, Devon Murray and Kyle Mailey.

Manchester Essex 19North Reading 40 (Girls)

Olivia Lantz set the course record in North Reading with a time of 16:47 as the Hornets improve to 7-3 on the season.

Fiona Davis (18:33), Eve Feuerbach (18:36) and Maura McCormick (18:52) took third, fourth and fifth place respectively with Holly Fossa also scoring points for Manchester Essex with a sixth place finish (19:43).

Manchester Essex 22 North Reading 35

The Hornets boys also improve to 7-3 with the win on Tuesday.

Cameron Holley led the way for Manchester Essex with a first place finish and a time of 15:20 with Spencer Feuerbach right behind him in second with a time of 15:21. Nathan Evans (6th, 15:37), Patrick Guinee (6th, 15:43), Charlie Davis (8th, 16:08) and Campbell Fackre (9th, 16:19) also scored for the Hornets.

Girls Soccer

Winthrop 2 Gloucester 0

The Vikings scored a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes of play to break a 0-0 tie and get the win. Kenna O’Maley and Riley Gately both played well on the defensive end for Gloucester.
