---- — Most watched

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Blackhawks and Bruins was the most watched Game 1 of a cup final since 1997, when the Red Wings met the Flyers.

NBC had an average of 6.358 million viewers watching the three overtime classic, which ended in a 4-3 Blackhawks win. The ratings were also up 119% from last year’s Game 1 of the finals between the Kings and Devils.

Game two is tonight at the United Center in Chicago on NBC (8:00 p.m.).

Ciriaco traded

Pedro Ciriaco has struggled mightily in the field this season, and on Friday the Red Sox shipped him to San Diego for a player to be named later.

Ciriaco gave the team a nice spark in 2012 but struggled to find a rhythm and a role on the team in 2013. The utility infielder is hitting just .216 on the season with seven errors in just 28 games played. He was designated for assignment earlier this week when Will Middlebrooks was recalled from the disabled list.

The Red Sox called up relief pitcher Rubby De La Rosa and sent down reliever Alex Wilson on Friday.

To the bench

Jason Kidd retired from the NBA after 19 seasons in the league last week, and just a week later he picked up a new gig as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.

Kidd played for the then New Jersey Nets from the 2001-02 through the 2007-08 season leading them to an appearance in the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, the only NBA Finals appearances for the franchise.

Horton skates

Nathan Horton skated during Bruins practice on Friday splitting time on the first line with Tyler Seguin, but his status for Game 2 tonight is still up in the air.

Bruins head coach Claude Julien said Horton’s status is still day-to-day. Horton, who is reportedly battling a chronic shoulder injury, left Game 1 during the first overtime period after a minor collision in front of the Blackhawks goal.

He may not play tonight, but the fact that he is already skating with the team is a good sign for the Bruins moving forward in the series.
