---- — Slumping Lester

Red Sox staff ace Jon Lester has had a tough go of it lately after starting the season 6-0.

With Monday’s loss in Baltimore, his first career loss at Camden Yards, Lester moves to 0-4 with a 7.20 ERA over his last six starts. During that span opponents are hitting .324 off of the Sox lefty, who has allowed 65 runners to reach base in that time span.

It is a huge contrast to the way Lester started off the season going 6-0 with a 2.72 ERA.

Lester is slated to get the start later this week against the Detroit Tigers, one of the best offensive teams in all of baseball.Anniversary

With the Celtics appearing to be on the verge of blowing up the team and starting the always uncertain NBA rebuilding process, it’s a good time to reflect on some good memories.

Monday marked the five year anniversary of the Celtics’ most recent NBA title, a six game triumph the hated Los Angeles Lakers in 2008. Finals MVP Paul Pierce may have played his last game in Boston while coach Doc Rivers and star forward Kevin Garnett most likely spent their last season in Boston.

The Celtics only won one title in the “Big 3 Era” but that title was a doozy. The Celtics were the best team in the NBA from start to finish, winning 66 games before running into a little trouble in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Boston shook off the two inferior teams and got stronger as the postseason wore on getting the best of the Pistons in the conference finals and the Lakers in the finals.

It was the Celtics 17th NBA title, and it looks like they are going to be stuck on 17 for at least a few more seasons, here’s hoping the rebuilding process goes smoothly.

Phil Mickelson has gotten used to finishing second place at the US Open. Mickelson, winner of four majors, zero US Opens, came into the final round with the lead at the US Open this weekend only to see Justin Rose take home the win.

This year marked the sixth time Mickelson has finished second at the US Open.
