Outdoors: Still great ski deals to be had during spring

This is the best late winter skiing we have had in years. The latest drop has provided most mountains in northern New England with a wonderful skiing surface. As warmer temperatures move in, many skiers and riders thoughts wander to other summer activities and hobbies. Because of this, most areas offer discounts on their lift tickets to entice guests to keep hitting the slopes. Many ski areas simply discount their everyday lift ticket prices, while others create interesting and fun promotions.

Many areas offer 2-for-1 lift ticket days or specify certain days of the week when discounts apply; you can find discount every midweek day this time of year. Some areas also have special events that include lift tickets as inexpensive as $1!

For a complete listing of these deals across New Hampshire, visit the “Daily Ticket Deals” page at In Vermont, try the website. Here there are a plethora of deals to peruse.

They have had almost 20 inches of new snow in the last week. The mountain groomers have taken this and created a surface that is almost as soft as the day the new snow fell. The cold nights are doing wonders to keep the surface from melting and freezing. They have 146 trails and nine lifts running.

This weekend is promising to be quite the good time at Sugarloaf. Nicki Bluhm & The Gamblers will round off our Bud Light series and deliver a night of vintage-tinged country soul-rock. They are also celebrating Easter Sunday with Services in the King Pine room and On-Hill, Easter Parade, Scavenger Hunt, Paper Egg Coloring, and much more. On 4/16 the East Coast Pond Skimming Championship will be held at noon. But the big spring event is the next weekend. The 25th Annual Reggae Festival will fill the air from 4/11-4/14. That is always a blast.
