Crunch Time

Soderberg finally signs

He was acquired in 2007 in a trade for Hannu Toivonen, and on Monday the Bruins finally agreed to a contract with Swedish star Carl Soderberg.

The 27 year old forward signed a three-year deal with the Bruins and if things go smoothly he could be released from his Swedish League team and be eligible to play for the Bruins this season. The Bruins had tried multiple times to get him to sign away from his Swedish Elite League team but Soderberg reportedly did not want to travel to play in the United States, until now.

Soderberg is amongst the league leaders of the Swedish Elite League this season with 30 goals and 60 points in 54 games. At 6’3” 210 pounds Soderberg brings size to the Bruins core of forwards.

Improper benefit

The absurdity of the NCAA has struck again. According to Louisville men’s coach Rick Pitino, the NCAA would not allow his recently crowned national championship team to attend the Louisville women’s National Championship game last night because it is an improper benefit.
