Pro Bowl is back
There were rumors that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was going to nix the Pro Bowl for good, but that all changed Wednesday as the NFL decided to keep the game. The game will be played on January 27, 2013 one week before the Super Bowl.
The Pro Bowl is often and rightfully criticized as the players never seem to give 100% making for dull football despite the fact that there is usually plenty of scoring. Despite the lackluster effort, the Pro Bowl is also the highest rated All Star game of all the major American professional sports.
Gonzalez released
Wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez was released by the Patriots Tuesday just over a month and a half after signing with the team. Gonzalez was a first round pick out of Ohio St. in 2007 but has battled injuries his entire career.
The release doesn't change much in terms of the Patriots wide receiver core as he wasn't expected to make a big impact even if he did make the team.
Dolphins on Hard Knocks
After the NFL knocked out wiped it out in 2011, Hard Knocks will be back in 2012 and it will be back in the AFC East. HBO will follow around the Miami Dolphins during training camp this summer for the hit reality show.
The Dolphins may not have many big name players outside of Reggie Bush and no notorious personalities like the Jets, who were on the show in 2010, but that doesn't mean the season won't be entertaining. The Bengals aren't media darlings either and the 2009 version of the show featuring Cincinnati was still very good.
It doesn't really matter who HBO picks to follow, NFL training camp is just that entertaining.
