Welker Returning?
Patriots receiver Wes Welker said on WEEI sports radio Monday that he doesn't expect to miss any regular season games this fall.
Welker, who wants to get paid for his production in years past, has openly refused to sign the franchise tag that the Patriots have offered him.
The franchise tag is worth $9.5 million for the upcoming season; however, Welker has expressed his desire for a long-term deal. It seems as if Welker is realizing that the Patriots' offer to him is the best he is going to get from any team and that the Patriots' need for him is declining after they beefed up their receiving core over the off-season.
A 'mulligan' for Fishermen
With a chance to clinch a playoff berth, the Gloucester baseball team instead saw its Monday game against Marblehead postponed on account of rain and poor field conditions.
The Magicians held a 3-1 lead, due to three first inning home runs, heading into the bottom half of the fourth.
It may have been a blessing for the Fishermen as they get a mulligan after a sloppy start. The game is tentatively rescheduled for today.
But with rain in the forecast, the makeup may be pushed back until Thursday.
The Big 2
Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh suffered an abdominal strain Monday in the playoff game against the Indiana Pacers.
The Heat have ruled out Bosh indefinitely and believe he will miss the rest of the current series.
But, while not trying to look too far ahead, this is good news for the Celtics, because if they beat the 76ers and face the Heat, Miami looks a lot less intimidating without the Big 3 intact.
