Crunch Time

Bobby V. vs. Youk

Round 4

Bobby Valentine and Kevin Youkilis just can’t seem to get over their dislike for one another.

On Wednesday Valentine appeared on WEEI’s “The Big Show”, the same show where he threatened to punch host Glenn Ordway in the mouth last week, and sounded off on his former infielder.

The Red Sox skipper originally said the incident with Youkilis was a dead issue but then had this to say.

“Just for the record, if you’re going to bring up Youk, I’m going to say this. What was he hitting when he left here — .238. And when he left here, everybody said he was hitting .238 because I really affected him. I was the cause. I was the root cause of his not performing well. Since he’s been with Chicago, he’s hitting .238. ... I just want to make it clear that the cause of him hitting .238 was not me.”

Valentine also said he expects to be with the team in 2013 and beyond, a scary thought for Red Sox fans.

Hard Knocks giveaway

No team that has appeared on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”, a reality tv show about NFL training camp life, has ever appeared in the Super Bowl. The show may have also led to another disadvantage for the Miami Dolphins, who were featured on this years show.

After the Dolphins 30-10 loss to the Texans Sunday, Houston defensive end J.J. Watt, who had a sack and a half in the game, said what he saw on Hard Knocks helped him have a big game.

The Houston defensive end said he picked up the Dolphins’ snap count while watching the reality tv show, a piece of information he used to his advantage on Sunday.

Rodgers not paying up

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a friendly wager with the members of pop group Boyz II Men last week stating that if his Packers lost to the 49ers last Sunday he would sport a Niners jersey and post it on twitter.

Apparently the Packers MVP quarterback is not paying up, the Packers were beat by the Niners last Sunday and Rodgers will not sport the opposing team’s jersey on twitter.
