Gloucester picked up an important win at home on Monday moving back to .500 (2-2) with a close win over the Sachems in a match where there were two sets were decided by tie-breakers and two matches went three sets.

No. 2 singles Jill MacDonald (6-0, 7-5), No. 3 singles Qiana Curcuru (7-5, 6-1) and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Kelsi Salah and Rose Margetson (6-3, 6-2) picked up wins for Gloucester.

Rockport 5Our Lady of Nazareth 0

The Vikings (1-2) picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion Monday.

No. 1 singles Eva Weinstein (6-1, 6-0), No. 2 singles Megan Hood (6-0, 6-0), No. 3 singles Krysia Strumpf (6-1, 6-1), the No. 1 doubles tandem of Marissa Foote and Conor Deedy (6-2, 6-2) and the No. 2 doubles team of Maddie Rowe and Irinia Biloiu (6-1, 6-1) all picked up wins for Rockport.

Manchester Essex 5 Triton 0

The Hornets (3-0) remain perfect on the season with their third straight shutout victory.

Brittany Collens and Michelle Fuca led the way for Manchester Essex at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively each turning in 6-0, 6-0 wins. No. 2 singles Kendall McCormick (6-2, 6-1), the No. 1 doubles team of Rachel Daley and Chanel Bullock (6-1, 6-0) and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Avery St. Sauveur and Maura McCormick (6-3, 6-1) were also victorious for the Hornets.

Boys Lacrosse

Beverly 9 Gloucester 2

The Fishermen drop their second straight game and fall to 2-4 on the season with the loss to the Northeastern Conference North leading Panthers.

Winslow Lewis and Jason Irwin scored for Gloucester, Jason Lattof picked up an assist.

Manchester Essex 5 Triton 0

The Hornets move to 2-0 on the year with another impressive Cape Ann League win.

The Hornets winners were Mike Fuca at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-1), Calvin Lamothe at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1), Sam Girian at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0), Colin Babikian and Josh Christopher at No. 1 doubles (6-2, 6-1) and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Seth Cohen and Jake Rich (6-1, 6-0).

Girls Lacrosse

Lynnfield 19 Gloucester 7

The Pioneers handed Gloucester (2-1) its first loss of the season Monday.

Melodie Orrell powered the Gloucester offense with three goals and an assist. Kenna O’Maley and Kelly Foster had a goal and an assist each while Caylee DaSilva and Katie McTigue each had a goal. Head coach Amanda Levie praised the play of O’Maley and Laurie Johnson in the defensive midfield.

Softball

Amesbury 9 Rockport 4

Sloppy defense and untimely walks helped Amesbury score eight runs combined in the third and fourth innings en route to the win. Rockport drops to 2-2 with the loss.

Jessica Collins led the way offensively for Rockport going 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple. Mollie Watson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Kayla Parisi pitched three scoreless innings of relief.

Georgetown 12Manchester Essex 0

Jane Erlandson picked up the win for Georgetown and combined with a relief pitcher to no-hit the now 1-3 Hornets.

Baseball

Amesbury 8Manchester Essex 7(extra innings)

The Hornets fall to 1-3 with the eight inning loss on Monday. Jake Fitzgerald, Kevin Carter, Cory Burnham and Sean Desmond powered the Manchester Essex offense with a hit and a RBI each. The Hornets are right back at it this afternoon as Rockport visits Memorial Field for a Cape Ann clash.(3:45 p.m.)
