Manny to Taiwan
Manny Ramirez is taking his game to Taiwan after he did not receive an offer from a Major League Baseball team this offseason. Ramirez has agreed to a deal with the EDA Rhinos of the Taiwanese League.
He is slated to join the team today, the Rhinos regular season begins on Sunday.
Ramirez said he would go to Taiwan if he didn’t get an offer from a big league club and he lived up to his word.
More free agents
The NFL’s free agent pool is about to get even deeper. Over the weekend the Pittsburgh Steelers released former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Jerome Harrison, an outside linebacker. Carolina released defensive back Chris Gamble.
Reggie Bush is also expected to hit the free agent market as is Anquan Boldin, who declined to take a pay cut in Baltimore.
The free agent list is already stacked and could continue to grow with the more salary cap casualties.
The Patriots need to improve their defense, and there are players out there who can help the Patriots, who have a ton of room under the salary cap, do just that.
Ortiz has MRI
The prognosis on David Ortiz continues to be worrisome. This weekend the Red Sox designated hitter had an MRI on each of his heels as both were reportedly bothering him.
Ortiz hasn’t seen action since last summer when he tore his right achilles heel. He has ran the bases this spring training but has yet to see action in a game. There is no timetable for his return.
