it counts
San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera was suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for a banned substance. Cabrera’s suspension brings to light a few key questions about the All Star game.
The National League’s leading hitter was named the Most Valuable Player of the Summer Classic in July. Remember the MLB All Star Game counts now, and on Cabrera’s back the National League was awarded home field advantage in this fall’s World Series.
I’m sure there are plenty of contending American League teams not happy that a cheater was the deciding factor when it comes to home field advantage in the World Series.
To make matters worse Victor Conte, of the infamous BALCO scandal that implicated Barry Bonds amongst other players, says that up to half of the players in MLB are using synthetic testosterone.
Dream Team to be part of new video game
2K sports has licensed every player from the 1992 “Dream Team” to be part of the NBA 2k13 video game.
Well, almost everybody.
Michael Jordan and Co. will all be featured, striking individual deals with the gaming company. The only player who failed to reach a deal was Scottie Pippen. No word on why Pippen failed to reach an agreement.

There have been two perfect games thrown at Seattle’s Safeco Field this season. In May, the Chicago White Sox’ Phil Humber tossed his perfect game with the stadium 54.8 percent empty. Yesterday, when Felix Hernandez joined the perfection ranks, the stadium was 51.3 percent empty.
